Using Sora by Overdrive, the Middle and Upper School Library provides hundreds of ebooks (and even a few audiobooks) that you can borrow and read on a phone, tablet, laptop or Kindle. Let us know if you have any questions!

You can authenticate using our Spence Google credentials in order to use your Sora account.

Sora and Libby

  • Sora: This reading platform is specifically designed for schools (public and private K-12 institutions) to access eBooks and audiobooks from OverDrive. 
  • Libby: Libby is the public library equivalent of Sora, allowing users to access digital collections from their local libraries from Overdrive
  • OverDrive: OverDrive is the vendor that provides both Sora and Libby. 

Connect to Sora at Spence

 

1a. For a phone or tablet: Find the Sora app in the Apple App Store or Google Play store and download it.

 

1b. For a desktop or laptop computer, use your web browse to go to: https://soraapp.com/library/spenceny

 

OR

 

Use the Chrome menu in your Spence Google account to find the app.

2. Select Find my School.

 

3. Unless you are physically close to Spence, Spence will not pop up automatically, so you'll need to search for Spence. Touch "This is my school" under Middle and Upper Schools.

 

4. In the pull-down menu, students should choose The Spence School. Faculty and staff should choose Faculty and Staff.
