How to use this guide

With OverDrive, you can borrow and enjoy free eBooks from The Spence School's digital collection. All you need to get started is your Spence email and password.

This guide contains general directions about how to get started using OverDrive. Navigate the guide by using the top tabs to get device specific instructions. If you have questions contact the library staff or visit the OverDrive Help site.

What is OverDrive?

OverDrive is the name of our digital materials service. OverDrive allows you to download ebooks, audiobooks, streaming videos and music to use on your home computer, tablet, smart phone, or to transfer a title to a compatible mobile device.

You can check out and download the following types of digital materials using OverDrive:

  • Adobe® PDF eBooks
  • Adobe® EPUB eBooks
  • Kindle eBooks

To access these digital materials you need:

  • Your Spence Username and Password
  • Internet access and/or a wireless connection
  • A computer or device
  • Free software for your computer or compatible device
